Subject and Verb

The word states is not the subject since it is the object of the preposition. The word which stands for one state. Therefore, which is singular, meaning that the verb should be is.

Porn and Beans?

I wonder if they will serve more lunches on Friday. Thanks to Frances for this one.

Further and Farther

Ah, further and farther. Farther denotes distances. (Think of the word far.) Further denotes figurative distance. Many people consider them interchangeable. This ad bothers me because cars and trucks are all about traveling distance. Well, they're all about distance except when they're about metaphorically going further in life. I guess this ad is okay. An ad of just three  words should not cause such conflict.

Toad-ally Ridiculous

Or frog.

Employees must wash their hands. Sign makers should proofread their work.

I think he needs support. Perhaps segment would be a better word than aspect.

Start Over, Please

This one needs a rewrite. Their sign is at the corner of confusing and terrible.

Almost Nailed It

He almost nails this attack on the grammatically challenged people posting to this site.
Why is there only one set of quotation marks? The commas are all unnecessary. Four end marks will never be acceptable.

I guess if you spell his name in a variety of ways, you are bound to get it right.

Error #1-There should be a comma between independent clauses.
Error #2-The quotation marks must come in sets. Either add some or delete the others.
Error #3-The apostrophe is not needed. Its is correct.

Only One

There was only one student.

Three Errors

1. There should be a comma separating the two independent clauses.
2. There should be a comma after the dependent clause preceding the independent clause.
3. Since the writer means to say you are, the appropriate word is you're, not your

Bryant Softball Association Dues

Benton's Neckless Baseball Team

It seems this group is trying to sell necklaces to support a baseball team. I keep imagining a team of boys with no necks. Thanks to Debra for this one.

Can You Belive It?

I believe, but I don't belive. Thanks to Taylor for this one.

Bryant News Grammar Failure Concerning the Millage Failure

Oh my! My favorite error is the recount that preceded the election.

Proofreaders Needed

The antecedent (or word it stands for) of their is officer. Officer is singular; therefore, their will not work since it is plural. The author likely used the plural form because it is gender neutral. If the author didn't know whether the officer were male or female, there were two options. One would be to write his or her.  Another option would be to choose his. I would have chosen the latter.
