Proofread Those Signs

The apostrophe is unnecessary. "Daypass" should be two separate words. This sign was at the Bishop Center in Bryant, Arkansas.

To and Two

"To Muslim leaders" should say two.

Misplaced Modifier

I hate when headless bodies walk around. This is a classic case of a misplaced modifer. I am certain that the women were walking around, not the dead person.

Car Safety and No Spellcheck

Crowd?

Proofread!

Proofread, people!

Funny and Wrong

Why is every word capitalized? There should be a comma between the two independent clauses in the last sentence.

Commas

There should be a comma after the introductory dependent clause that ends with the word "rolls."

Object Pronouns

"John and I" functions as the direct object of the infinitive "to join." Because it is working as an object, me, not I should be used.

Relieve vs. Revive

The correct word would be relieve rather than "revive."

A Challenge? A Warning?

This is a fused sentence. The run-on could be corrected by adding a period after "microwave." Is it just me? Does this sign encourage people to try this?

Strong Message, Weak Grammar

The sentiment is excellent. Throughout the sign, "child" is singular; therefore, using the plural pronoun "their" is incorrect. To make this agree, one must change "child" to children or change "their" to his. To be politically correct, which in this case is grammatically obnoxious, one could use his/her. There should be a comma after "But," or it could be removed. The word "that" should be who since people are who and things are that

Guards

"Guards"?

Semicolons in a List

The most common use of the semicolon is to join clauses containing similar ideas. Another use of the semicolon is to clarify lists. If a list contains commas within the elements of the list, those commas remain, and the elements are separated by semicolons. The first red mark shows where a comma introducing a verbal phrase should be. The remaining three marks denote where a semicolon should be.

One writing website (http://writing.wisc.edu/Handbook/Semicolons.html) explains it like this:
  • Use a semicolon between items in a list or series if any of the items contain commas.

There are basically two ways to write: with a pen or pencil, which is inexpensive and easily accessible; or by computer and printer, which is more expensive but quick and neat.

Fox16, Again!

"...3-year-old girl WAS attacked..."
Hyphens and proper verb form make a difference. There should also be a comma after the introductory infinitive phrase: "To find out more, click..."

Conway Wal-Mart

The subject is "items." "Items" is plural. "Is" is singular. They do not agree. The sign should read, "All items in this cart are 50 cents each." Remember that a subject will not be in a prepositional phrase.

TaMolly's Mistake

No apostrophe needed in "kid's."

Apart vs. A Part

"Apart" means separated. A part means together.

Smart Fish Not Smart Grammar

"It's" should be "its."

Oreo Error

The apostrophe in "Oreo's" is unnecessary. This is from Silver Dollar City.

Verses vs. Versus

Verses versus Versus.

Use the Correct Word

"Use" should be "used."

"Use" should be "used."

Cite the Problem

The word "siting" should be "citing." In addition, there should be a helping verb or other change in verb form.

There's No Such Thing as a Double Superlative

"Loneliest" is in the superlative form. The use of -est and "Most" together is incorrect. No need to create a double superlative.

Apostrophe Error

My daughter saw this one. The word men is plural; therefore, one should never simply add an -s. Furthermore, the sign indicates a restroom possessed by men. An apostrophe before the -s would correct this sign. This sign resides in a lookout tower in Branson, Missouri.
